Mahatma Gandhi-"Father of the Nation"



He is one of thMohandas Karamchand Gandhi(Oct 2, 1869 - Jan 30, 1948) popularly
 known as 'Mahatma Gandhi'or 'Bapu'.He also called as 'Father of the Nation'.
Mahatma Gandhi was born in Porbandar,Gujarat in India at 2 october 
in the year 1869.His father named Karamchand gandhi was the chief
minister of porbandar city at that time.

He is a  great freedom fighter and leaders who fought for the freedomof his
country with ahimsa(non-vaiolence) and satyagrah(way of truth) as his weapons.


The title mahatma was taken from a sanskrit word 'mahatman' which
means 'one who having great soul' was accorded on Gandhiji by his
one of the biggest admire Rabindranatg Tagore in 1995.




Gandhiji stududied law at the Uninversity of  Bombay for one year and
then he graduated from the University of London in the year 1891.
Then he returned to Bombay and practiced law there for a year,
then he went to south africa to work for an indian firm in Natal.
There Gandhiji became the first non-white lawyer to be admitted 
in the bar of south africa.



Gandhiji supported British  in World war 1 and encouraged indians to join the
army to defend the British Empire.Then in India Gandhi bacame active for
struggle of indian independence.

Gandhiji made the famous satyagrah ,the Salt March to Dandi from 12march 
to 6 april in the year 1930.He walked to foot to the ocean in protest against
British salt tax.

After his lot of struggles India won Indepence in the year 1947 followed
by the Indo-pakistan war of 1947 to india partition.

Gandhiji was shot three times on the chest and died while his way on the 
prayer meeting on 30,jan in the year 1948.The ashes of Mahatma Gandhi
were split into parts and sent to all states to scaterred the rivers.Part of his 
rest in Raj Ghat near Delhi,India.


At last i salute to Mahatma Gandhi for giving his whole for the 
freedom of his country,which will never be forgotten!!!!!!!!!!!
